ABSTRACT: To date, there have been a considerable
number of reports and investigations regarding
accounts of stable isotopic fractionations
and variation of stable isotope ratios. These
de-scriptions depend only on biological activities,
a little bit of differences of kinetic ratios
of chemical reactions and a little differences
of physical development. Although the rela-tionship
between the phenomena of stable isotopic
fractionations or variation of stable isotope
ratios and electric charge or electric field
or electromagnetic forces has never been
considered. Furthermore the relationship
between the phenomena of variation of stable
isotope ratios and cosmic-ray bombardment
(spallation effect) also has never been con-sidered.
The object of this investigation is to discover
the reason for variations in isotopic ratios
in the environment to adapt the previous
studies as follows.
[A] Neutron bom-bardment from cosmic radiation
(spallation effect)
[B] Oddo-Harkins Rule
[C] All kinds of isotopes have specific electrical
potential
[D] Previous study of Production of 7Be by
nuclear spallation reactions

ABSTRACT: Tokyo Electric Power Fukushima
Dai-Ichi Nuclear Power Station in Fukushima-Ken,
Japan was destroyed due to a magnitude 9
earthquakes in the ocean north east of the
Island of Honshu in Japan that produced a
historical Tsunami on 11 March 2011. Due
to a nuclear meltdown, hydrogen explosions
damaged buildings housing reactors, cooling
water from the reactor core was contaminated,
and huge amounts of radioisotopes were released
into the atmosphere and marine waters. Currently,
offshore fishing in FUKUSHIMA-KEN, Japan
is prohibited because the majority of fish
still contain excessive amounts of radioisotopes.
Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology
measured the amounts of radioisotopes found
in fishes offshore of IWAKI-SHI, located
south of the destroyed Nuclear Power Station
in FUKUSHIMA-KEN, Japan. Some of these data
indicated that feminam Okamejei kenojei (English
Name: Female Common skete; Japanese Name:
KOMON KASUBE) had a negative linear relationship
between fish weight and 137Cs/134Cs ratio
(137Cs: caesium 137, 134Cs: caesium 134).
Therefore, feminam Okamejei kenojei have
the ability to accumulate a specific nuclide
(radioisotope). To date, ultracentrifugation
and diffusion methods have been used to accumulate
specific nuclides for atomic fuel. However,
if we could utilise the ability of Okamejei
kenojei to accumulate a specific nuclide,
we would have an additional method to obtain
specific nuclides.

ABSTRACT: The Tokyo Electric Power Company
Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant in
Fukushima-Ken (Prefecture), Japan, was destroyed
in March 2011 due to a massive earthquake
(magnitude 9) centred offshore to the northeast
of Honshu Island and the subsequent historic
tsunami on 11 March 2011. Due to nuclear
meltdown, damage to the buildings housing
the reactors by hydrogen explosions, and
the contamination of cooling water from the
reactor cores, huge quantities of radioisotopes
were emitted to the atmosphere and to the
adjacent seawater. Fishing is currently prohibited
off the coast of Fukushima-Ken because intermittent
surveys have found that the majority of fishery
products still contain radioisotope levels
exceeding the Japanese Standard Value. However,
the total amount of caesium radioisotopes
in fish biomass in the Fukushima-Ken Exclusive
Economic Zone (EEZ) has not yet been reported.
The Tokyo University of Marine Science and
Technology has measured radioisotope levels
in fishery species off Iwaki-Shi (City),
Fukushima-Ken (located south of the destroyed
nuclear power plant), and these data can
be used to estimate the total fish biomass
and the quantity of caesium radioisotopes
in fish in the Fukushima-Ken EEZ. On 22?23
November 2012, the estimated total fish biomass
in the Fukushima-Ken EEZ was 91,150,218.79
kg and the estimated total quantities of
Cs-134 and Cs-137 in fish were 4,879,259,657
Bq and 8,381,002,727 Bq, respectively.

ABSTRACT: Cosmic rays in the upper troposphere
(9000 meters to 15000 meters) initiate the
following nuclear chemical reaction:
1n + 14N => 14C + 1H
Previous research has shown a strong effect
of latitude on the abundance of neutrons
from cosmic rays. However, to date, there
has been little exploration of the relationship
between the latitude effect for cosmic-ray
neutrons and latitudinal variations of stable
isotope ratios in aerosols and foliage. In
this study, aerosol samples (PM 4.5) and
foliage samples were collected in Singapore
in November 2009, February and July 2010
and in Fairbanks, Alaska, U.S.A. in January,
April and September 2010. The average value
of delta 15/14N in foliage in Fairbanks was
-1.84 [per mil], whereas the average value
in Singapore was -1.3 [per mil]. These results
show a clear latitude effect on delta 15/14N
in foliage. Furthermore, the average value
of delta 15/14N in the nitric-oxide substances
in the aerosol samples in Fairbanks was -2.70
[per mil], whereas the average value in Singapore
was +7.61 [per mil], demonstrating that delta
15/14N in nitric-oxide substances from aerosol
samples also experiences a latitude effect.
In both Singapore and Fairbanks, it was observed
that values of delta 15/14N in nitric-oxide
substances from aerosols were correlated
with declination. The value of delta 15/14N
in nitric-oxide substances from aerosols
in Fairbanks increased with increasing declination
due to more active conversions from 14N to
14C by neutron bombardment.

ABSTRACT: It is very important to determine
the stable nitrogen isotope ratio for the
nitrogenous substances in aerosols and the
geochemistry behavior of stable nitrate ion
isotopes in aerosols in order to elucidate
the chemical and physical functions of clouds.
Hence, aerosol field sampling was conducted
in the skies offshore from Malibu Beach and
Santa Barbara, California, U.S.A. on 16 and
18 July 2009, using an airplane. The samples
were analyzed for nitrate and nitrite ions
using ion chromatography (IC) and GC-mass
spectrometry (GC-MS). The results indicate
a higher stable isotopic ratio of δ (delta)
15N/14N in the aerosols collected at the
cloud top of one cloud than the aerosols
collected from the cloud base of a second
cloud at the same altitude (30.48 meters)
on 18 July 2009. NO2- nitrite ions were present
only in the aerosols sampled at the cloud
base. At the same altitude, the stable nitrogen
isotope ratio in the nitrogenous substances
found in the aerosol depended on the aerosol
position within the clouds. Furthermore,
the altitude effect was small for the isotope
ratio. To date, no research has been published
that explores the relationship between the
electric charge of clouds or the atmosphere
and the fate or transformation of aerosols.
My investigation indicated that past models
describing the fate or transformation of
aerosols within clouds are not based on the
actual details of the situation. This study
showed that the fates of electrically charged
aerosols or ionized aerosols were affected
by the electrically charged cloud.

for anion concentrations using ion chromatography
(IC) and for stable nitrogen isotope ratios
in the nitrate ion ( NO3-) using GC-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results
of these analyses indicate that in-flight
water exhibits variations in stable isotope
ratios and anion concentrations during
flights.
A very low isotopic ratio of delta 15N/14N = -368.5 [per mil] was measured for the
in-flight water on an aircraft flying over
thunder clouds on November 15, 2009, at
10
degree North offshore of Luzon Island in
the Philippines. If the extremely low stable
nitrogen Isotope ratio at -368.5 [per mil]
measured on November 15, 2009, at 10 degree
North is excluded, a rough trend consisting
of the highest stable nitrogen isotope
ratios
at nearly the same altitude was observed
at neighboringpositions of declination. The concentration
of the NO3- ion was highly variable in the sampled in-flight
water during flight. The following nuclear chemical reaction is
well known.
1n + 14N => 14C + 1H
- If this nuclear chemical reaction occurred,
the nitrate ion (NO3-) was converted to carbonate ion (CO32- ). Hence, the carbon in the product CO32- would be carbon-14, a radioisotope.
The passengers and crew members on flights
may use in-flight water for hand washing,
gargling with mouth wash and as drinking water.
Internal exposure to radiation in the form
of carbon-14 for these individuals is more
likely.

ABSTRACT: On 19 November 2009 and 17 July
2010, historically heavy rainfalls occurred
in Singapore. Aerosol samples (PM 4.5) were
collected with a sampling pump at a flow
rate of 5 L per min from 16 to 22 November
2009, from 08 to 20 February 2010 and from
16 to 28 July 2010. Rainwater samples were
collected every 5 mL of rainfall using an
Horiba Raingoround sampler from 17 to 21
November 2009, from 10 to 18 February 2010
and from 16 to 28 July 2010 on a rooftop
at the National University of Singapore in
Singapore. These samples were analyzed by
ion chromatography for anions and by gas
chromatography-mass spectrometry for nitrogen
and oxygen stable isotope ratios. During
periods of historically heavy rainfall, the
d18O/16O ratios in nitric-oxide substances
in aerosols tend to decrease tremendously.
The 14N atoms in nitrogen oxide ions in rain
drops are converted to 14C through neutron-activated
nuclear chemical reactions at higher altitudes.
Consequently, d15N/14N ratios increase with
the production altitudes of rain drops. Therefore,
figures displaying the d15N/14N ratios of
nitrogen oxide ions in different separated
rainfall fractions have a characteristic
form.

ABSTRACT: Cosmic rays in the upper troposphere
(30000 feet to 50000 feet; 9000 meters to
15000 meters) initiate the nuclear chemical
reaction:
1n + 14N => 14C + 1H
- Previous research has shown a strong effect
of latitude on the abundance of neutrons
from cosmic rays. However, to date, there
has been little exploration of the relationship
between the latitude effect for cosmic-ray
neutrons and latitudinal variations of stable
isotope ratios in aerosols and foliage. In
this study, aerosol samples (PM 4.5) and
foliage samples were collected in Singapore
in November 2009, February 2010 and July
2010 and in Fairbanks, Alaska, U.S.A. in
January 2010, April 2010 and September 2010.
Ion chromatography, gas chromatography-mass
spectrometry, and element mass spectrometry
were used to measure anion concentrations
and nitrogen and oxygen stable isotope ratios
in nitrogen oxide ions of the aerosol samples,
as well as to measure carbon and nitrogen
stable isotope ratios in the foliage samples.
The average value of delta 15/14N in foliage
in Fairbanks was -1.84 [per mil], whereas
the average value in Singapore was -1.3 [per
mil]. These results show a clear latitude
effect on delta 15/14N in foliage. Furthermore,
the average value of delta 15/14N in the
nitric-oxide substances in the aerosol samples
in Fairbanks was -2.70 [per mil], whereas
the average value in Singapore was +7.61
[per mil], demonstrating that delta 15/14N
in nitric-oxide substances from aerosol samples
also experiences a latitude effect. However,
no clear latitudinal pattern was observed
for deta 13/12C in foliage or for 18/16O
in nitric-oxide substances from aerosols.
In both Singapore and Fairbanks, it was observed
that values of delta 15/14N in nitric-oxide
substances from aerosols were correlated
with declination. The value of delta 15/14N
in nitric-oxide substances from aerosols
in Fairbanks increased with increasing declination
due to more active conversions from 14N to
14C by neutron bombardment.

ABSTRACT: It is important to determine the
stable nitrogen isotope ratio for the nitrogenous
substances in aerosols and the geochemistry
behaviour of stable nitrate ion isotopes
in aerosols in order to elucidate the chemical
and physical functions of clouds. Hence,
aerosol field sampling was conducted in the
skies offshore from Malibu Beach and Santa
Barbara, California, U.S.A. on 16 and 18
July 2009, using an airplane. The samples
were analyzed for nitrate and nitrite ions
using ion chromatography and GC-mass spectrometry
(GC-MS). The results indicate a higher stable
isotopic ratio of d 15N/14N in the aerosols
collected at the cloud top of one cloud than
the aerosols collected from the cloud base
of a second cloud at the same altitude (30.48
m) on 18 July 2009. NO2? nitrite ions were
present only in the aerosols sample at the
cloud base. At the same altitude, the stable
nitrogen isotope ratio in the nitrogenous
substances found in the aerosol depended
on the aerosol position within the clouds.
Furthermore, the altitude effect was small
for the isotope ratio. To date, no research
has been published that explores the relationship
between the electric charge of clouds or
the atmosphere and the fate or transformation
of aerosols. Present investigation indicated
that past models describing the fate or transformation
of aerosols within clouds are not based on
the actual details of the situation. This
study showed that the fates of electrically
charged aerosols or ionized aerosols were
affected by the electrically charged cloud.
